Premier League manager admits interest in Loic Remy

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has admitted that he will try to bring in Chelsea striker Loic Remy in January, most likely on a loan deal.

Speaking to the BBC, the Villa boss said:

Loic is special because he knows the country and the league and he would be an interesting player for the team. He is part of some players I’ll try to attract to Aston Villa for sure.

Remy has seen his playing time limited at Chelsea this season. Despite the struggles that Diego Costa had at the start of the campaign, Jose Mourinho seemed reluctant to give the Frenchman a run in the side.

The 28-year-old has scored just one goal in eight Premier League appearances, but he only started one of those eight games, with the majority of his game time coming as a late substitute.

Garde knows Remy well as he was the assistant manager at Lyon when the striker started his career, and he’ll hope that Remy can bring goals to his side, an area where they need to massively improve if they are to stay in the top flight.
