Former Chelsea, Blackburn and England striker, Chris Sutton believes that Chelsea will have a quiet January transfer window despite their poor league position.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton thinks that the Blues will hold off any major transfer business until the summer.
The former striker said:
They might try to freshen things up but I suspect they will wait until the end of the season. I don’t think there is any point in panic buying.
Despite being linked with a host of names such as Jackson Martinez, Sadio Mane and even Gareth Bale of late, Sutton says Abramovich will not panic buy and wait to see what sort of reaction new manager, Guus Hiddink will get from his players.
Sutton added:
I think owner Roman Abramovich will wait and see whether the players react to the change of manager and if Guus Hiddink can get more out of the same group of players that won the Premier League last season.
Sutton goes on to say which player he thinks may be under threat during the transfer window:
Chelsea have been linked to various strikers but I’m not sure they will sign one. If anyone is under threat by potential January signings then maybe it would be Cesc Fabregas. I don’t think he has the same impact anymore and his legs are on the wane.

Since taking over from Jose Mourinho, Hiddink is unbeaten in four. Winning against Sunderland and most recently Crystal Palace, as well as two draws against Watford and Manchester United.
Chelsea have a busy January ahead with an FA Cup tie against League One side Scunthorpe this weekend, as well as having a busy and compacted Premier League schedule.
