Chelsea to sign Argentine as Pedro departs

The January transfer market has been relatively mundane thus far for Blues fans, however, The Evening Standard report that this could be about to change with Pedro potentially making way for the arrival of PSG winger Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Pedro has found life difficult at Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Barcelona in the summer, notching up just two goals and two assists in 15 league appearances, which pales into insignificance compared to his record in Catalonia.

To make matters worse for the Spanish international, he appears to be behind the likes of Oscar and Willian in the pecking order at Chelsea, and as Eden Hazard returns from injury, he could find his chances limited between now and the end of the season.

As a result, the West Londoners are rumoured to be considering allowing the wide man to leave the club, which could pave the way for the arrival of PSG winger Ezequiel Lavezzi.

The Argentine has found starting opportunities hard to come by in Ligue 1 this season following the arrival of fellow countryman Angel Di Maria, and he has made just three starts, coming off the bench 13 times.

This means the Blues may be able to secure Lavezzi’s signature for a knock-down price as Guus Hiddink looks to revitalise a squad that has looked very lacklustre so far this campaign.

In any case, the transfer window looks set to spark into life with just over a week to go, as clubs begin preparations for the all-important season run-in.
