Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is being monitored by Italian side Roma, according to Football Italia.
The Vice-captain has been dropped from the side in recent weeks due to the form of the currently favoured pairing of John Terry and Kurt Zouma and is said to have been unhappy with his playing time.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs despite Chelsea’s insistence that he is unavailable as Cahill looks to cement his starting place for England ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
Reports suggest that the Roma directors are considering a bid for the centre-back to strengthen their European campaign, as they currently 5th in the Seria A table. However, Cahill’s wages could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential deal.

Cahill recently penned a new four-year deal for the Blues in December, but the arrival of Guus Hiddink as manager has pushed him down the pecking order, despite making 21 appearances in all competitions this season.
The Italian giants are concerned about the wage packet of the Englishman, which would be too high for the Giallorossi and would require a negotiation of a pay cut between the two parties.
The England international has made over 180 Blues appearances since arriving from Bolton for £7m in January 2012.
