Chelsea launch £2m bid for Ethan Ampadu

Chelsea have launched a £2m bid to sign highly-rated Exeter City defender Ethan Ampadu, Ghanasoccernet have learned.

Ampadu made the headlines back in August when he became one of the first players born in the 21st century to make a Football League appearance when he made his Exeter City debut on August 9th in an EFL Cup win over Brentford.

Born in Exeter, Ethan’s father, Kwame, is a youth coach at Arsenal who have to no one’s surprise also been linked with a move for the talented 16-year-old.

Not only has Ethan made his professional debut, but he’s established himself as a bit of a regular for the League Two side this season, making nine appearances in all competitions and is a regular fixture in the first-team squad.

His talents have also been noticed on the international stage, with the Wales U19 squad handing him a call-up earlier this month where he made three appearances in their U19 European Championship qualifiers.

Ampadu came to Chelsea’s attention after putting in a great performance in the Checkatrade Trophy against the Blues’ U23 side and now Antonio Conte is readying an offer.

Still only 16, Ampadu is still early in his development but no doubt the facilities, coaching and opportunities at Chelsea would make him a better player than the respective set-up at Exeter.
