According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Antonio Conte and Chelsea are disappointed by Schalke’s last minute change of heart regarding the transfer of Sead Kolasinac, with the German club deciding to keep hold of the full-back for the rest of the season.
Chelsea had reached personal terms with the player and believed that Schalke had agreed to the deal as well.
Instead Kolasinac will see out his contract which expires this summer, leaving Chelsea without their desired reinforcement at left back.
The good news is that Kolasinac will be available on a free transfer this summer, but Chelsea will face stiff competition for the Bosnian.
Juventus in particular are reportedly keen on signing Kolasinac this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool also keeping an eye on the situation.
The failure to sign Kolasinac makes the loan recall of Nathan Ake back to Chelsea even more important, and most likely ensures that the young Dutch defender will remain at Stamford Bridge despite rumoured interest.
