Marcos Alonso says he hopes that Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois does not leave the club this summer.
The Belgian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid after impressing both for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid previously.
Speaking to Radio Estadio, as reported by IB Times, Alonso admits he’s had no contact with the Spanish club since leaving as a youngster to join Bolton, before having spells with Sunderland and Fiorentina.
Courtois has been earmarked as a replacement for Keylor Navas after the Madrid club failed in their pursuit of David de Gea.
I really hope (Courtois doesn’t move to Real Madrid) because he is great goalkeeper and he is helping us every game. Since I left there I have had no contact with the club and now I am very focused on Chelsea. We have a very important season ahead.
The Belgian keeper has been back to his very best this season, which will do nothing to defuse the rumours linking him with a return to Spain.
Since joining Chelsea Courtois has lifted the Premier League and the League Cup. The Belgian could potentially receive his second Premier League winner’s medal this season if Chelsea maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the table.
