Premier League champions Chelsea are said to be preparing a £13 million bid for Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald, according to Calciomercato.
Antonio Conte is keen to bring in some defensive reinforcements after the departure of veteran skipper John Terry was confirmed by the club at the end of last season.
Chelsea are said to have already confronted Ajax about a potential move for the 20-year-old centre-back.
Riedewald is under contract at Ajax until the summer of 2020 and the Dutch side are understood to be keen on keeping him at the club for the upcoming season.
With regular first-team football guaranteed at Ajax, it may prove difficult trying to lure the youngster to Stamford Bridge.
However the offer of an already secured Champions League place next season could prove enough to persuade Riedewald into a move to Stamford Bridge.
Riedewald made 32 appearances in all competitions for Ajax last season as the club finished just one point behind Dutch champions Feyenoord. He was also a key part in helping Ajax reach the Europa League final in Stockholm where they lost to Manchester United.
Riedewald has already gained three senior caps at international level for the Netherlands.
