Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has had his say over Chelsea’s current striker search and believes that Antonio Conte should go for Torino forward Andrea Belotti instead of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, talking to talkSPORT.
It has been reported that both clubs will accept bids in the region of £80 million for their respective strikers, with Conte wanting a deal to be finalised as quickly as possible ahead of the new season for one of his targets.
The Blues are in the market for a top striker this summer after it appears that Diego Costa is leaving Stamford Bridge, and Zola has told talkSPORT how he believes Belotti would be the perfect replacement for the Spanish striker.
Zola said: “To be honest, I was thinking Chelsea should go for Andrea Belotti in Italy, I thought that considering the type of qualities Costa has, that Belotti was the perfect fit. Morata is a little bit different, he’s more of a finesse player. He hasn’t got the presence of a player like Costa in the box. He’s a different player, he brings other qualities. Costa was very influential last season, he’s a type of player who fits with the style of football at Chelsea, and that will be the key for Chelsea.”
Chelsea missed out on their top forward target in Romelu Lukaku after he joined rivals Manchester United in a deal worth up to £90 million with Wayne Rooney heading in the opposite direction to Goodison Park.
