Chelsea’s current longest serving player at the club is goalkeeper Matej Delac, who is yet to even feature for the club’s first-team in a competitive fixture, has confirmed another 16 players will leave the club on loan or permanently this summer.
Delac has been at Chelsea since 2010 and has become the club’s longest serving player currently after the recent departure of Chelsea legend John Terry.
Work permit issues for Delac means he can’t play at Stamford Bridge, as a result, he’s been on loan 10 times since joining the Blues in 2010 but it looks like Delac could be leaving Chelsea for good this summer.
In an interview with Goal, the Croatian said:
Currently, I am in London and have been since July 1, training with another 15 players who are waiting for a loan or transfer. [Mario] Pasalic was also with us until recently but he has moved to the first team.
Delac is still only 24 which is very young for a goalkeeper so a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge may revitalise his footballing career.
Chelsea have already sanctioned deals to move several youngsters on this summer. High profile exits include Nathan Ake completing a £20 million move to Bournemouth, while Nathaniel Chalobah secured a £5 million move to Watford.
