Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti thinks that his former side will surprise a few people in the Champions League next season after significant improvements to the squad, as reported by the Mirror.
Only a few weeks ago, Ancelotti claimed that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea could struggle in the 2017/18 campaign due to the strength of their squad and the Italian’s lack of rotation.
I hope he doesn’t win the Champions League! I cannot wish him that! But Chelsea will be very competitive in the Champions League. The team is better.
Last year was a fantastic year for Chelsea and Antonio. He was able to change the mentality of the team and the style of play. Everything was OK. For this reason they will be competitive in the Champions League. To win it? I don’t know. I hope not.
However, Ancelotti has changed his thoughts after the Blues signed Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata. Chelsea could also sign three more players before the deadline, with reports suggesting Conte’s spending is not finished yet.

Ancelotti’s Bayern Munich side face Chelsea in a pre-season friendly today in Singapore as the Premier League champions continue their preparation for the new season.
