Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta has labelled his side’s win over Qarabag as the best night of his career.
Speaking to Italian media after the game, as quoted by Goal, the right wing-back was in a beaming mood as he discussed how it felt to net his first ever goal for Chelsea on his debut.
I went through those moments in a genuine trance: the ball in the net, the celebrations of the fans, the embrace from my team-mates. It was total chaos, but a beautiful chaos.
It was a comprehensive victory for the Blues, who thumped Qarabag on the night. Zappacosta was one of several Chelsea players on the score-sheet as Antonio Conte’s men swept the Azerbaijani outfit aside in a 6-0 win.

Italian international Zappacosta joined Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window for a fee thought to be in the region of £23m. Conte was looking to bolster his wing-back options and identified the former Torino man as the perfect man to battle Victor Moses out on the right.
The best night of my career? Without a doubt. I’ve never experienced a story like this. My Champions League debut, my first match for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and a spectacular goal. All perfect.
Zappacosta will hope that his performance was enough to earn him a place in Conte’s starting line-up ahead of Chelsea’s game against Arsenal on Sunday.
