Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has opened up about his departure from Chelsea back in 2014, which saw him join Bundesliga side Wolfsburg before joining Manchester City little over 18 months later.
The Belgian midfielder came through Genk’s youth academy, the same setup which produced talents such as Christian Benteke, Denis Praet and Steven Defour. He moved to Chelsea in January 2012, saying at the time: “To come to a team like Chelsea is a dream but now I have to work hard to achieve the level that’s necessary”.

Unfortuntately for De Bruyne, he never really found that level in his time at Stamford Bridge, making only nine appearances for the Blues after a loan spell with Werder Bremen where he scored 10 goals in 34 games — certainly an impressive tally.
De Bruyne was sold to Wolfsburg in January 2014 and went on to make 72 appearances for Die Wolfe, scoring 20 goals (an average of one every 3.6 games).
The now-City man scored a cracker of a goal at the weekend as Pep Guardiola’s side beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, and has revealed that there are no regrets or hard feelings over his time (or lack of) at Chelsea (via the Guardian):
I’ve no regrets over anything that happened

I don’t think they [Chelsea] have regrets: they’ve won two league titles since I’ve been gone, so they’ve done fairly well. That’s the way it goes, it’s a business. At that point it was a good decision for me to go and maybe for them it was also good to let me go. There’s no bad feeling at all. It’s just part of life and you need to grow up
De Bruyne is one appearance short of a landmark 100 for Manchester City and has scored 25 times for them since his £55 million move to the north west club.
