Former Chelsea star says the club will cope without Conte

Former Chelsea player Pat Nevin believes Chelsea will continue to be successful without head coach Antonio Conte, amid rumours of the Italian will return to his homeland of Italy as soon as next year, Goal report.

Conte won the Premier League title in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge but has sparked rumours of a potential exit after admitting that he will be heading home to manage in Italy at some stage, with it being widely reported that he could return to Serie A as early as the start of next season.

Chelsea have been used to having fresh managerial faces over the past decade, with 10 full-time managers taking charge at Stamford Bridge since 2007.

The Italian has become a huge hit with the Stamford Bridge faithful and his departure would come as a huge blow to the club.

However, talking to the Daily Star, Nevin believes that the Blues will continue to be successful without Conte, who is currently under contract until 2019, after signing an extension on his contract in July.

When you’ve been following Chelsea as long as some of us have, you know they change manager very quickly but still have brilliant managers. They seem to make good choices.
Although Conte is very popular and I’d love him, one hundred per cent, to stay for the next five years, you just sort of shrug your shoulders and accept that this is the business we are in.
It would be disappointing to some degree but Chelsea time and time again do that, change it and then keep on being successful.
