Chelsea to scout Europa League striker against Arsenal

Chelsea may well be a Champions League outfit, but the Blues think they may have found a gem in the second tier of European competition, and will scout him when Red Star Belgrade play Premier League side Arsenal next week.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League champions are interested in the talents of Red Star striker Richmond Boakye, who spent time at Juventus whilst Blues manager Antonio Conte was in charge of the Old Lady.

Boakye, 24, has 11 goals in 17 appearances for the Serbian side so far this season and scored twice in his only 2017 cap for Ghana; he has played for the Black Stars 12 times to date, scoring six goals.

Richmond Boakye started his career at Genoa, and has since played for Sassuolo, Juventus, Elche, Atalanta, Roda JC, and Latina before moving to Red Star this summer, after interest from Championship side Sunderland.

He has racked up 209 games so far in his young career, scoring 67 goals — a ratio of one goal every 3.1 games.

The Daily Mail’s report claims that the Ghanaian, who Chelsea will scout against Arsenal next week, is also being monitored by Swansea City and Crystal Palace, whilst Celtic have also shown an interest.
