Chelsea have been looking for a left-back to provide competition for Marcos Alonso for the better part of a year now and are no closer to finding one.
Juventus star Alex Sandro has been a top target for the Blues since the summer but they’ve failed to agree a fee for the Brazilian and have now set their sights on another Serie A standout, Roma’s Emerson Palmieri according to the London Evening Standard.
The 23-year-old has only made two appearances so far this season after returning from a serious knee injury and is also a target for both Juventus and Liverpool during the January transfer window.

Chelsea are hopeful that they can sign the 23-year-old fullback for around £20m to add further depth at left wing-back ahead of the second half of the season.
Juventus are eyeing Palmieri as a potential replacement for Sandro if someone meets their £60m asking price, with Manchester United also interested in the Brazilian, while Liverpool want to replace Alberto Moreno with Palmieri. Should Chelsea sign a left-back, then they will allow Kenedy to complete a loan move to Newcastle.
