Longest serving player Delac leaves with no regrets

Chelsea’s longest-serving player, Matej Delac, has left Chelsea with no appearances for the Blues but also no regrets, as per Goal.

Delac has been at Chelsea since 2010, transferring from Crostian club Inter Zapresic. When John Terry left the club for Aston Villa, it made Delac the longest-serving player at the club despite having no appearances to his name.

He has been loaned out 10 times to eight different clubs in eight different countries. But now he is leaving permanently on a free transfer to Denmark to club AC Horsens.

Delac has spoken about his leaving Chelsea and how he got interest for being the club’s longest-serving player. He also stated that he said goodbye in the WhatsApp group chat for Chelsea loanees.

Delac said in an interview following the transfer to AC Horsens (via Goal):

It was a good eight years, you can always say that things could have gone better or worse, but I will always say that I am happy with these eight years.

Yes, I said goodbye to the guys in the loan WhatsApp group and they said ‘good luck’. That’s it! This is a great opportunity for me after my time at Chelsea. It was not an easy time, as I’ve not played for the past year.
