It has been reported that Chelsea are going to go up against Everton in the upcoming summer transfer for the signature of ADO Den Haag defender Wilfried Kanon, according to Tribal Football.
Kanon has almost been ever-present for the Eredivisie side this season and has been crucial to them getting into the Europa League Play-Off spots, finishing the season in seventh place.
It is believed that Chelsea are interested in bringing the Ivory Coast international to Stamford Bridge, with Gary Cahill’s future in West London still lacking clarity and David Luiz set to leave the Blues in the summer.
However, he could end up in the North as opposed to the South of England, with Sam Allardyce looking fondly at Kanon and keen on bringing him to Goodison Park if he were to keep his job in Merseyside beyond the end of this season.
This season, he has made 24 league appearances for Den Haag and has been an integral part of their defence. However, he has more red cards this season than goals, scoring once and being sent off twice.
If he were to make the move to either London or Merseyside, he would be playing for his first club in one of Europe’s top five leagues, but his impressive performances have shown he is up to the challenge.
Last year, the 24-year-old signed a five-year contract to remain in The Hague but could end up playing in blue next season in the Premier League, whether that’s in Chelsea or Everton blue.
