According to Extra.ie Sport, Chelsea are looking to sign Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona and they could hijack Liverpool’s move for the Dutchman in the process.
After Loris Karius’ awful performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League final, The Reds are looking for a new goalkeeper.
Their main target was Alisson from Roma, but with the Italian side adding ‘Salah tax’ to every transfer dealing between the two clubs, after the Egyptian moved for cheap last summer, it looks like a tough job for Liverpool to snap up the Brazilian.
This has led the Reds to target Cillessen from Barcelona, but with Thibaut Courtois’ future up in the air at Chelsea, the Blues are also looking to sign the Dutch goalkeeper.
With Marc-Andre Ter Stegen keeping Cillessen out of the starting XI at Barca, it could be an easy transfer for any club interested, but Barcelona want €60m for the goalkeeper.
However, this could be lowered if interested clubs use his squad role as a bargaining tool against the Catalans.
Chelsea are yet to reach an agreement with Courtois about a contract extension and the Belgian is reportedly keen on a move to Madrid as his family are still based in the Spanish capital.
