Chelsea to miss out on Milinkovic-Savic deal with Serbian staying put

Chelsea will miss out on the chance to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer, with the player set to stay at the club.

The Daily Star reports that the Serbian midfielder has confirmed his intention to remain with the Serie A outfit beyond the current transfer window.

When quizzed about his future at the club, the midfielder reiterated he will not be leaving this summer.

Of course I’m staying, do you not see that I’m here?

Reports had linked Chelsea with a big-money move for the player, with some suggestions of a bid in the region of £100 million with Charly Musonda heading in the opposite direction.

Chelsea were also named as favourites to land the player, but a summer move is now increasingly unlikely.

Both Manchester United and Real Madrid have been heavily linked with moves for the player this summer.

Milinkovic-Savic was one of the standout performers in Serie A last season, helping Lazio with their push for Champions League football.
