Hammers confident about beating Chelsea to Bernard

Chelsea could miss out on the free transfer of Bernard, with London rivals West Ham confident of beating both the Blues and Milan to the Brazilian.

According to Lee Clayton on the Daily Mail, the Hammers believe that the Brazilian could be on his way to the Premier League, but specifically to the London Stadium.

Both Milan and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the Brazilian, who is a free agent after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.

The player is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League and the idea of working with new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri appeals to him, but Milan had previously been credited as his most likely destination.

Bernard has held talks with both Chelsea and Milan and is awaiting further talks from new Milan technical director Leonardo as he ponders his next move.

The Hammers have already strengthened in the final third this summer with the signings of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, while they are also looking to sign another striker.
