Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been named in the England squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Switzerland and Spain.
Despite seeming to be on the periphery of Chelsea’s squad, Loftus-Cheek has retained his place in the England squad from the World Cup.
Attained as a result of his strong performances whilst on loan at Crystal Palace last season, Loftus-Cheek was not in Russia simply to make up the numbers.

Appearing as a substitute against Tunisia in the opening match, Loftus-Cheek started against Panama and Belgium.
Impressing manager Gareth Southgate and Chelsea fans alike, much thought had been afforded to what role the 22-year-old would play in the Blues’ season this year; alternatively, whether he might be loaned out again.
Remaining a Chelsea player, it seems as though new boss Maurizio Sarri must have at least some plan for the England international this season, who will be hoping to receive his ninth cap for his country.
