Jorginho’s agent has revealed that Manchester City missed out on signing the Italian after failing to agree terms with Napoli this summer.
According to a report from the Mirror, Joao Santos explains that Chelsea stole the march once it became clear that Maurizio Sarri would replace Antonio Conte.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Santos revealed all about the transfer deal.
It was all done with Jorginho [and City]. There was an agreement, but there was no agreement between the clubs. All parties have to agree, and one did not. Then Chelsea asked what the situation was after Sarri arrived and Jorginho went to London.
Jorginho’s next move was one of the stories of the summer. The Italian looked destined to join Manchester City after months of speculation.
Pep Guardiola was keen to bring him into the club as an option to provide cover for Fernandinho.
However, it was Chelsea that signed the Brazilian-born midfielder and he has gone on to be a key figure in Sarri’s side.
Jorginho’s familiarity with Sarri’s style and demands have helped the Blues to a brilliant start this season, winning four games from their first four.
