Chelsea and Spurs could still land Bazunu as City deal is denied

Chelsea and Tottenham appear to have been given a huge boost in their pursuit of young Irish goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Reports emerging from Ireland have suggested that a move to Manchester City is far from sealed, despite claims that a deal was done.

Shamrock Rovers have denied any knowledge of claims that the player has agreed to join Manchester City.

Pictures and reports emerged on Wednesday that seemed to suggest City had won the race to sign the 16-year-old, beating the likes of Brighton, Celtic and Liverpool to his signature.

The Premier League champions were also believed to have paid a sizeable fee for the 16-year-old, who has impressed after breaking through in Ireland.

With the player likely to remain in Ireland this season, the deal could still go through in the near future.

The Blues were particularly keen to sign the youngster and even invited him to view the club’s facilities in a bid to sway his decision.
