Napoli make first offer for Chelsea target Piatek

Napoli have reportedly made the first move to sign Chelsea target and Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek.

The Blues have been heavily linked with a January transfer swoop for the Polish international, who has been in superb form in the opening stages of the new campaign.

Piatek has scored nine Serie A goals and has struck four times in the Coppa Italia, meaning that he leads the way as the top goalscorer in Italy’s top tier.

The 23-year-old’s ruthless form in front of goal has not gone unnoticed, either. It’s been recently reported that ahead of the January transfer window, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has identified Piatek as his number one target.

However, Chelsea may need to move quickly if they are to pursue their interest in the forward. According to Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Calciomercato, Napoli have made the first move for Piatek, tabling a €35 million offer for the player.

Napoli are believed to be interested in reinforcing their attacking options through the addition of another striker and it seems Piatek has been lined up as an ideal candidate.

Chelsea face stiff competition in their pursuit of Piatek, as they look to build on a strong start to the new season.
