Zaha set to be fit for Palace’s Chelsea trip

Wilfried Zaha is set to be fit to face Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend, Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed.

Zaha missed the 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Championship side Middlesbrough with a shoulder problem but manager Roy Hodgson expects the Ivory Coast international to be fit for selection on Sunday.

Speaking after the loss to Boro, another game that the Eagles failed to win without Zaha, Hodgson said:

He took a bang on the shoulder at the weekend which will be fine by the Chelsea game. It would have been difficult to play him [against Middlesbrough] with that knock anyway, but I spoke to him yesterday and he said he was fine.

Palace’s record without Zaha is, to be blunt, terrible, and if they want to have a realistic chance of taking anything from Selhurst Park, they’ll need their talisman fit and firing.
