Chelsea refuse to comment on Christensen allegations

Chelsea have decided not to comment on the reports that the club made illegal payments to secure the transfer of Andreas Christensen, according to West London Sport.

Allegations surrounding Chelsea defender have emerged over the past few days following details published by Danish publication Politiken.

The report claimed that the Dane’s Father, Sten Christensen, joined the West London club as a ‘talent scout’ on the July 1, 2012, coincidentally the same day his son also joined the club following his 16th birthday.

A Chelsea spokesman said: “We will not comment further on speculation concerning confidential contracts or player related matters.”

It is alleged in Politiken’s report, which gained the details of the payments through Football Leaks, that Sten Christensen received more than £600,000 over four years from the Blues despite no evidence suggesting he conducted any scouting for the club during this spell but continued to work as a goalkeeping coach in his native Denmark for Brondy.

Chelsea are already under threat of a transfer ban from FIFA following signings of under-18 players and the speculation over the 22-year-old’s move to Stamford Bridge will only increase scrutiny surrounding the club with payments to the families of players being prohibited under Premier League rules.

Andreas Christensen is yet to appear in the Premier League for Chelsea this season following the success of Maurizio Sarri’s preferred duo of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger helping to lead the team to remain unbeaten.

Rumours have suggested that the centre-back could look for a move away in January, despite fellow deputy Gary Cahill also being prepared for a move away in the January window.
