Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has expressed his interest in keeping on loan Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham until the end of the season after concerns that the Blues might recall him in January.

The  striker has scored 11 goals this season so far for the Championship side, with seven of the goals coming in just his last four games.

The Villa manager said this to The Express and Star:

Obviously he looks like he’s enjoying his football right now, but with seven goals in four games, he would be wouldn’t he?

He’s got the potential to play at the very top level. The lad has got a bit of everything. He scores with headers, left foot, right foot. He’s been spot on.

When asked about the possibility of Abraham being recalled by Chelsea he responded with the following.

I see no reason not to see him continue here.

He’s playing games and he’s scoring goals and that’s what he came he came here for.

With goals being spread out between the players in Chelsea, bringing back an in form striker isn’t a priority for the Blues.

Chelsea are currently struggling in the striking department, with Alvaro Morata failing to impress in recent weeks.

The club have been linked with a number of strikers, including Inter Milan centre-forward Mauro Icardi.
