Italian Serie A side Lazio are plotting a loan offer for Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta, according to a report on Calcio Mercato.
The right-back has struggled to break into the Chelsea starting line up ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta so far this season and could be offered a route out of the club by Lazio.
The Italians are eager to strengthen their right side of defence and they have identified the Chelsea man as a target for the January transfer window.
They are looking to offer Chelsea a deal which will see Zappacosta join them until the end of the season and then giving them the option to buy him permanently for around €12m in the summer.
Zappacosta has been used in the cup competitions by manager Maurizio Sarri this season, especially in the Europa League. With the Blues still challenging for all the competitions, they may still need to call upon Zappacosta.
If the Blues do allow him to leave until the end of the season, then Sarri will want to bring in some cover at right back.
