Ryan Giggs tips struggling Chelsea player to join Man United

Share

As things stand, it is hard to see Chelsea making the Champions League qualification spots. They are already seven points adrift of Liverpool. To make matters worse, Brentford and Bournemouth are now level on points. In fact, the Blues only hold a three-point lead over Fulham in 12th. Add recent form into the equation and there is a much better chance that Liam Rosenior’s side will finish in the bottom half of the table than in the top five.

Of course, if Chelsea miss out on Champions League football, that is would be a blow for the club in more ways than one. Firstly, it would be a financial loss of significant magnitude. To make matters worse, the Blues recently posted losses of around £264 million. Also, they were fined by UEFA last summer and continue to be monitored.

That would mean that the club’s ability to sign players in the summer would be affected. And this comes at a time when they need to strengthen the squad badly.

Also, many of their top players could be looking to engineer exits if they don’t have Champions League football on offer. And Ryan Giggs has tipped one struggling Chelsea player for a move to Manchester United, who are almost certain to make the competition after the win at Stamford Bridge.

Ryan Giggs believes Cole Palmer would be a good fit at Manchester United

Cole Palmer has been linked with a move to Manchester United, the club he grew up supporting, for months now. And if Chelsea miss out on the Champions League qualification spots, the rumours will only grow.

On the other hand, Ryan Giggs seems to believe that Palmer would fit in at Manchester United. According to Football 365, he said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel:

“Yeah, he would, Manchester lad.

“Where would he play with obviously Bruno [Fernandes] at No.10? He could play off the right possibly.

“But yeah, we talk about [Rasmus] Hojlund and [Benjamin] Sesko, it’s only really Bruno who is creating things time and time again.

“What if Bruno has a bad day or he’s injured? You need three or four players in your squad who can make things happen for these players to put the ball in the back of the net.”

Would Palmer leave Chelsea if Champions League is not on offer?

Palmer recently talked about how he had no plans to leave Chelsea. Of course, that would have come as some relief for the fans.

That being said, he also mentioned, while talking ahead of the Manchester United game, that everything changes if Chelsea are not in the Champions League. Of course, it will have a negative impact on the club for sure. But would it change things for him personally?

Time shall tell. Right now, the most important thing for Palmer is to find his form. He has not been himself for arguably the past 18 months or so. Injuries have played their part. But he does seem to be lacking confidence and looks unsure of himself on the pitch at the moment.
