Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has reportedly emerged as a target for Atletico Madrid.
According to claims from Tuttosport, as cited in a report from Calciomercato, Diego Simeone’s side have joined Juventus in the race to recruit the Italian international.
Emerson has seen his future at Stamford Bridge come under scrutiny in recent weeks and was linked with a move to Inter Milan earlier on in the January transfer window.
However, it seems a move to Spain could be a possibility for the left-back, with Atletico reported to be keen on landing him if Lucas Hernandez completes a summer move to Bayern Munich.
Juventus appeared to be leading the race to sign the former Roma man, as reports indicated that the Turin club could demand the player as a part of Chelsea’s proposed deal to sign Gonzalo Higuain.
Nevertheless, it appears that if Massimiliano Allegri’s side are to tie up a transfer for Emerson, they will be faced with stiff competition from elsewhere.
