Luiz says the Chelsea squad are still behind Sarri
Chelsea defender David Luiz has played down suggestions that the squad are against Maurizio Sarri.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Malmo, as reported by ITV Football, Luiz explains that in fact, it is quite the opposite, with the squad still backing the Italian head coach.
We have had many meetings already asking if someone doesn’t believe. They can say. Nobody said anything. It’s because everyone believes (in it).
After the club’s recent run of form, it has been suggested that Sarri has ‘lost the dressing’ at Stamford Bridge.
The 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth and the 6-0 thrashing against Manchester City left many wondering if Sarri’s days at Chelsea were numbered.
To some extent, Chelsea did get back on track with a 2-1 away win at Malmo on Thursday night, putting themselves in a relatively strong position to qualify into the next round of the Europa League.
Chelsea will now be looking to take that result into the cup meeting with Manchester United on Monday night, with tough games on the horizon for Sarri’s men.
