Maurizio Sarri is expected to be sacked as Chelsea manager if they lose in the EFL Cup final this weekend, according to the Mirror.
The Italian is under huge pressure after the Blues’ FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester United, following an alarming dip in form in recent months.
Chelsea face the daunting task of having to beat Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, if they are to seal EFL Cup glory.
There is also the Europa League last-32 second leg clash at home to Malmo before that, having won 2-1 in the first leg.
The report states that the Chelsea hierarchy are “already thinking about potential replacements” for Sarri, with little confidence ahead of the City game.
The west Londoners were humiliated 6-0 at the Etihad less than two weeks ago and there is concern among supporters that another drubbing could come their way at Wembley.
Sarri will need a big performance from his players, but whether they can provide it remains to be seen.
The 60-year-old made such a strong start to life at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea looking like title challengers, but the end appears to be near.
