Fulham join Sheffield Wednesday in pursuit of Michael Hector

Fulham have reportedly joined Sheffield Wednesday in the race to sign Chelsea defender Michael Hector this summer, according to The Star

The Cottagers are planning for life in the Championship after a disappointing first campaign in the Premier League, where they have conceded 77 times in 37 league games.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday are looking to make Hector’s loan move a permanent one, with reports suggesting talks have already begun between the two clubs over the possibility of the Jamaican heading to Yorkshire on a full-time basis.

The 26-year-old has been a regular under Steve Bruce since his arrival and has put in multiple dominant displays at the heart of the defence since the turn of the year.

And Hector recently revealed to the media that he is hoping to remain at Hillsborough next season.

I have made it clear that I would be happy to stay but things need to be sorted out now the season has finished.

There’s not much I can say (to Chelsea), it’s just whether the clubs can sort something out and hopefully I can continue here next season.

Despite Hector’s willingness to stay with The Owls next season, Chelsea may contemplate keeping the towering defender after FIFA rejected the Blues’ appeal against their two-window transfer ban.
