Chelsea launch appeal against their two-window transfer ban

It has been confirmed this morning that Chelsea have appealed their transfer ban through the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

As reported by the Daily Mail, CAS released a statement this morning revealing that they have received Chelsea’s approach.

The appeal process remains in its early stages and Chelsea are yet to try and have the ban frozen for this summer’s transfer window. The report claims that this is a ‘last attempt to overturn transfer sanctions.’

There have been fears that should Chelsea try to have the ban frozen, it could, as a result, be extended to three windows, something the club are obviously keen to avoid.

As things stand, it appears that Chelsea’s stance could change once the appeals process is complete.

Chelsea are aware that they can still sign the likes of Mateo Kovacic this summer, but must do so before his loan deal expires.
