It looks as though Chelsea will be riddled with ex-players in the upcoming season as the club faces a major staff shake-up this summer.
Rumours about Frank Lampard’s return are still up in the air and now it looks like he will be joined by another ex-Chelsea player, in Claude Makelele, who is being tipped to make a return as a coach, according to reports on Goal.
After over a decade away from Chelsea, Makelele will reportedly be given a role in the coaching staff for the loan group at Stamford Bridge, with Petr Cech also expected to return as technical director.
The 46-year-old has not long ago left his managerial role at KAS Eupen, where he had a relatively successful spell.
Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has reportedly been keen to refresh the staff behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge following the departure of Maurizio Sarri to Juventus.
Makelele’s new role in West London will be encouraging for the squad and the club’s loan players because of his vast experience could potentially help bring them greater success than they achieved last season.
