Liverpool have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign Barcelona winger Philippe Coutinho this summer in what could be a huge return to Anfield.
The Brazil international left for Spain in January 2018 for £142million but things haven’t gone smoothly at the Nou Camp and he has been heavily linked with a move away during the transfer window.
According to Le10sport, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are the three teams vying for his signature and Barcelona chiefs would be willing to let him leave after just 18 months.
It’d be very surprising to see the Reds chase Coutinho, considering they’ve actually looked stronger without him after reaching back-to-back Champions League finals, winning the most recent competition.
If Chelsea’s transfer ban is lifted, or at least suspended, it’s very likely the club will go all-out in trying to find an Eden Hazard replacement.
Whether Coutinho would be the right man remains to be seen, but it’d be very interesting to see him back in the Premier League.
