Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger played 90 minutes on Wednesday night for Germany as they defeated Czech Republic 1-0 in Leipzig.
Blues team-mate Timo Werner wasn’t involved in the friendly as Rudiger played only his second full match of the 2020/21 campaign.
Despite having fallen down the pecking order behind Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger, remains a regular starter for his national side and earned his 36th cap on Wednesday.
Rudiger has played 117 times for Chelsea since being signed from AS Roma in 2017 and will likely be confident in his own ability to earn his place in Frank Lampard’s starting XI when next given the opportunity. So far this season, the powerful German has only made two appearances for the Blues, both coming in the Champions League.
Following his impressive outing, a host of Chelsea fans have reacted to the 27-year-old’s post on Twitter and praised the “immense” centre-back as he helped keep a clean sheet.
