Chelsea closing in on Christopher Nkunku signing

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Christopher Nkunku after months of talks between the Stamford Bridge club and RB Leipzig.

That is according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who has issued his famous “here we go” on this prospective transfer, with only contractual elements seemingly needing to be sorted before the deal becomes official.

What’s the word?

It is said that Nkunku has already completed his medical with the Blues, whilst Chelsea have an agreement in place to bring the France international to SW6.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Romano said: “Chelsea are closing in on Christopher Nkunku deal. Medical already done as reported in September, agreement in place with Leipzig for more than €60m (£52m) clause/easier payment terms.

Long term deal agreed starting from June 2023. Time to sign contracts then… here we go.

Bravo, Boehly

Nkunku now appears extremely close to making the ambitious switch to the Premier League, with Chelsea now just a bit of paperwork away from securing the France international.

From a Chelsea perspective, this is a sensational move for a player who has been shooting the lights out for RB Leipzig. Nkunku’s efforts in the Bundesliga have seen him notch an impressive 12 goals from 15 games, with the 25-year-old taking to a striking role really well over the last two seasons.

In all competitions, he has scored the same amount of goals (17) that Chelsea have managed as a team in the Premier League this season – a sure sign of his ability.

This would be a massive signing for Chelsea and a real statement by co-owner, Todd Boehly who has managed to evade a bidding war by getting his business done early.
