Chelsea vs Leeds United FA Cup semi-final: How to watch, team news

Share

In what is one of the most pivotal games for Chelsea this season, they take on Leeds United in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley today. This will be their first game since the departure of Liam Rosenior, who was sacked after the Blues lost five straight games in the Premier League this season without scoring a single goal. As a result, they have slipped to eighth, 10 points adrift of fifth-placed Aston Villa.

Calum McFarlane has taken over as the interim manager until the end of this season. He was also in charge of two games in January, in the transition phase between Enzo Maresca and Rosenior.

Although today’s game will be even more crucial for the Blues. The FA Cup now remains their only hope of a major achievement this season and also a way into the Europa League. Of course, with Manchester City waiting in the final, that is easier said than done.

On paper, the Blues definitely have a better side but going by the current form of the two sides, Leeds United have a clear edge over their opponents. They are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, whereas the Blues have lost seven on the trot when facing top flight opposition.
