Former Chelsea player would be brilliant Liam Rosenior replacement

Liam Rosenior, who was handed the reins at Chelsea after the sacking of Enzo Maresca earlier this year, seems to be in all kinds of trouble. The Blues are out of the top five in the Premier League and also on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League after losing 5-2 against Paris Saint Germain in the first leg of the round of 16 tie.

The former Strasbourg manager, who showed promise initially upon arriving, is slowly losing the trust of the fans. It has been suggested that some on the board have their doubts about his ability. So, Rosenior could be on his way out if things do not improve soon. That begs the question of who could be the next in charge of the club?

Luis Enrique is one option who has been linked with Chelsea in the past few weeks. However, there is little reason for him to leave a high-flying PSG to take on a club where managers have been overlooked in favour of the transfer model.

That said, there is another Spaniard who could be a perfect candidate for the job. Cesc Fabregas. Fans would surely love to see the former Chelsea midfielder back at Stamford Bridge. Only this time in a different role.

Cesc Fabregas can help Chelsea through this difficult period

Fabregas is currently in charge at Como and has really helped the club emerge as one of the best in Serie A this season. His team are currently sitting in fourth position with just five losses in 29 matches so far.

The Spaniard’s possession-based style, with high pressing, is in line with the likes of Pep Guardiola. In modern football, that has proven to be a very effective tactical approach.

Fabregas’ style is effective as well. Como have the third-best attack in Serie A, with 48 goals, behind Inter and Juventus. They have the second-best defence as well, having conceded just 22 times, behind only AC Milan.

Additionally, Fabregas has also helped the development of some youngsters at Como like Nico Paz, Jesus Rodriguez, and Maximo Perrone. So there is a real possibility he could help the young players at Chelsea reach their true potential.

When can fans expect a managerial change?

The situation at Chelsea is highly volatile at the moment. Although the preferred convention is to make a change at the end of the season, it might not be too long before the Blues see a new tactician in the dugout if results stay the same in the upcoming few matches, or worsen.

Notably, Rosenior has already lost five matches in his short stint at Chelsea. It is true that everyone needs some time to implement their tactics, but the Blues honestly cannot afford much adjustment time at this crucial juncture in the season, and performances need to improve immediately. If that is not the case, it remains to be seen how long Chelsea wait before making another managerial change.
