Everton vs Chelsea: How to watch, Preview, Predicted Line-up

Chelsea are currently back to square one. They have now won only once in their last five Premier League games as they were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

Their Champions League campaign was also ended brutally by holders Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues were completely outplayed over the two legs as PSG won by an aggregate of 8-2.

Now as it stands, the Liam Rosenior-led side would at least hope to finish in the Champions League qualification spots. They currently sit at 6th in the Premier League table and are completely out of form. That means there is scope that they could drop further if things don’t improve.

Chelsea will take on 8th-placed Everton away at the Hill Dickinson Stadium next. The Blues need to bring home all three points if they are to compete with the likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool, who are currently ahead of them in the league table.

Head-to-head record:

In this fixture, Chelsea have been the more successful side historically. But at home, Everton have won five of their last seven meetings against the Blues. And if recent form is anything to go by, they have a good chance of making it six from eight.

Interview with Everton expert

We recently had the chance to talk with Shumail Sajid of Read Everton regarding this match. And he provided some insight into the task that awaits the Blues this weekend.

ReadChelsea: Where do you think Everton can hurt Chelsea?

SS: Everton’s recent form and a close game against Arsenal will be a massive confidence boost for them ahead of the Chelsea game. Chelsea have added pressure for the Champions League spot slipping away, and any lapse will be difficult to manage for Liam Rosenior.

ReadChelsea: What is an Everton weakness Chelsea can exploit?

SS: Everton are lacking goals ahead and have been inefficient infront of the goal. Any Chelsea lead will be difficult for Everton to manage, considering Chelsea’s massive squad depth to manage games.

Final thoughts

As it stands, this looks like a must-win game for Chelsea as they have fixtures against Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool still left to play. Those are expected to be tougher than tomorrow’s encounter against the Toffees.

Chelsea have to view this as a chance to bounce back after losing three games on the trot. Rosenior’s side are on the ropes and need to get their season back on track. In the recent past, Palmer has produced some of his best performances against Everton. Let’s hope we get to witness another one of those at the weekend.
