It is that time of the season again when kits start to ‘leak’ online before the official announcements are made by clubs, right before the end of the campaign. Chelsea have had some pretty good kits this time around. Unfortunately, the performances on the pitch have not given them a chance to go down as future classics.
The main point of worry for Chelsea fans right now will be finishing in the Champions League qualification spots. Of course, the FA Cup provides them with a chance to win some silverware as well. They will be facing Leeds United in the semi-finals at Wembley.
Whether Chelsea finish with silverware or not, it looks like there is going to be gold on their kit next season. The away jersey has now been leaked and it is drawing rave reviews from supporters.
The leak comes from FootyHeadlines, who have a very good record of getting this stuff correct. The kit is a combination of black and gold. It also has a minimalist crest of the Chelsea lion.
Chelsea fans react to the club’s leaked away kit of 26/27 season
The majority of the reviews on the kit are positive. One fan wrote, accompanied by a ‘freezing’ emoji: “I can’t lie. It is cold.”
The Club World Champions badge might look especially good in the centre of this away kit. As one fan pointed out: “Gold CWC crest made this jersey possible.”
Interestingly, it is Enzo Fernandez in the leaked promotional pictures of the kit. But there is uncertainty around his future at Chelsea. There is a chance that we might never see him play in this jersey. The midfielder has not ruled out a move away from the club when asked about it. And his agent recently confirmed that they would explore other options in the summer if an agreement cannot be found over a new deal. The Argentine international was even banned by the Blues recently for two games for his comments.
Chelsea’s kit earns rave reviews but they need to deliver on the pitch
While Chelsea’s leaked away kit might have gone down well with the supporters, the same cannot be said about their recent performances. The 7-0 win over Port Vale was a positive. It ended a four-game losing run and must have boosted the players.
Much tougher tests lie ahead though. Chelsea’s next game is going to be against Manchester City. It is a vital contest for both teams.
If Manchester City drop points in this one, the title race is as good as over. On the other hand, Chelsea cannot afford to lose again, if they want to qualify for the Champions League.
