Chelsea fans won’t like what Liam Rosenior said after losing to Man City

It would be safe to say that most Chelsea fans have reached their verdict when it comes to Liam Rosenior. He had started off well, wining his first four Premier League games. But since then, he has won just one out of the last seven. That has left them almost out of the Champions League qualification race.

Now, I know that briefings came out earlier in the week that Rosenior will remain Chelsea manager beyond this season, whether the club qualify for the Champions League or not. But how much sense would it make to back a manager in the summer transfer window, who has looked completely out of his depth since taking the job?

Chelsea have kept just one clean sheet in 11 Premier League games under Rosenior. They have lost five out of their last six matches across all competitions. The only win was against Port Vale, a team at the bottom of the League One table.

Defensively, they have been atrocious as well. Over the two legs against PSG, they conceded eight times. In the Premier League, they have shipped three goals in back-to-back games. Going forward, things are not looking much brighter either. If you take out the Port Vale matchup, the Blues have not scored in four straight games against top-level opposition.

Chelsea making summer plans with Liam Rosenior despite horror run of form

No points for guessing what the majority of the Chelsea fanbase wants at this moment. They want Rosenior to be shown the exit door as soon as possible.

But it looks like the club are making summer transfer plans with Rosenior. According to Kieran Gill, the Chelsea manager said:

“Over the last week, we’ve had detailed conversations on what we need to look like from the summer window. We know what we want to improve.”

Of course, that is not what the fans will want to hear at this point in time. And understandably so. So far, Rosenior has not shown anything that would suggest to the supporters that he is the right man for the long run.

Chelsea’s project is in big trouble

For the last four years, we have heard about this project that BlueCo are building at Chelsea. One that will result in one of the best teams in Europe.

They have spent over a billion pounds signing wonderkids from all across the globe and overlooking the need for proven quality and experience. They have brought in managers who never had the resume for a job of this magnitude.

Now, questions are starting to be asked about whether Chelsea are even a ‘big team’ anymore. And if you ask me, that is a fair question.

The truth is that this project is headed nowhere. It was never going to succeed. You cannot attract the best players in the world if you want to stick to your wage structure. You cannot compete with Europe’s elite by constantly signing wonderkids. The fans realised this quite some time back. Have BlueCo?
