In a different era, Liam Rosenior would have been shown the Stamford Bridge exit door by now. Of course, one could argue that he would have never been handed the Chelsea job in the first place. Just think of the names who succeeded at the club in the yesteryears. Jose Mourinho. Antonio Conte. Carlo Ancelotti. Thomas Tuchel. All proven winners.
Rosenior was barely ‘proven’ as a top division manager by the time he got the Chelsea job. He had managed Strasbourg and Hull City. And while he had exceeded expectations with both, it is a whole different level of pressure that managers face at top clubs.
Not everybody can deal with it. At the moment, it looks like Rosenior is struggling under the expectations. Nothing is going Chelsea’s way. And while briefings suggest that BlueCo will continue to back him, we all know how quickly things can change in football.
Even Behdad Egbahli admitted earlier that football is a results-based business. And Rosenior is not producing the right ones at the moment. The fans have given up on him already. Also, it looks like som in the dressing room might not be in his corner either.
French journalist makes worrying dressing room claim about Liam Rosenior
According to Chelsea.news, Julien Laurens said on ESPN regarding Rosenior’s current situation at Chelsea:
“At half time there were boos, at full time there were boos.
“Of those seven recent defeats, every time they’ve been booed when they lost at home. The atmosphere is really negative all around… Liam Rosenior is under massive, massive pressure… from some corners of his own dressing room, and most of the fans are against him now.”
Of course, it would only be natural if some in the dressing room are unconvinced by Rosenior so far. After all, he has not done much to show that he is capable of succeeding here.
On the other contrary, everything suggests that his sacking is inevitable. It is just about how long BlueCo will prolong this for. Chelsea are in historically bad form right now, having lost four Premier League games on the trot without scoring a goal.
How long will Rosenior get at Chelsea?
That might be what most Chelsea fans are wondering at the moment. There are no signs that Rosenior can turn this around.
To be frank, I would have loved to see Rosenior succeed at Chelsea. He brought a refreshing approach when it comes to handling the media and is a very likeable guy.
Unfortunately, that is not enough to succeed as a Chelsea manager. And as things stand, it does not look like the Blues are going to finish the season in the Champions League, which would have long-term effect on this project, with key players eyeing the exit door already. Let’s see how long the club continue to back Rosenior.
