Chances of Mourinho, Tuchel or Enrique joining Chelsea revealed

Share

Chelsea are looking to appoint a new manager for next season. Calum McFarlane is currently entrusted with the role temporarily following the dismissal of Liam Rosenior. However, it is almost certain that he will be replaced in the summer.

A number of candidates are being considered as the possible future Chelsea manager. Former Blues managers Jose Mourinho and Thomas Tuchel, as well as current Paris Saint-Germain tactician Luis Enrique, have been linked with the job.

Securing any of the trio would be a major boost for the Chelsea team, who need some much-needed guidance at the moment. That said, it looks like the Blues will have to find someone else, as the prospect of one of them joining looks increasingly unlikely.

In fact, Ben Jacobs has recently spoken in the GIVEMESPORT newsletter via (The Chelsea Chronicle), where he ruled out the chances of Mourinho, Tuchel and Enrique taking up the managerial position at Chelsea next season. He stated:

“One is, of course, Luis Enrique, who interviewed for the Chelsea job and the parties were not aligned. Enrique will sign a new deal at PSG, keeping him at the club until 2030, so he’s not available.

“There’s no chance of a Thomas Tuchel return and Chelsea have always downplayed Jose Mourinho returning, so something would have to change there.”

Major blow for fans in search for next manager

This news would come as a major blow to Chelsea fans, as the three managers were probably some of the best candidates suited to take this Blues team forward. They have experience with top players and are familiar with managing elite clubs.

Anyway, this recent development shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Firstly, Enrique and Tuchel are both busy with their duties with PSG and the England national team, respectively.

Whereas Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge has never really gathered any steam. Moreover, the Portuguese is reportedly being linked with a job with Portugal after the World Cup.

Chelsea will have to be careful while choosing their next manager

Chelsea don’t have a good track record when it comes to the tenure of managers at the club. And the sacking of two managers this season won’t help that image.

So choosing the next candidate becomes an important decision. They can’t afford to bring in an inexperienced individual. Instead, they need someone who has proven his mettle and can be trusted with time to steadily improve the team.

All things considered, there are still a number of top managers who could be brought in by Chelsea. So there’s no need to jump into a wrong decision by taking a decision hastily.
