It does not matter which way you cut it, the 2025/26 Premier League campaign for Chelsea has turned into an absolute shambles and fans will rightly be pointing fingers at our varying and numerous managers, as well as our overpaid post-Madonna selection of first team charges who have been allowed to operate under the illusion that they can insult paying fans by deciding when, and where, they turn up and fulfil their contractual obligations and earn their ridiculous rewards.
The blame, of course, lies with the Football Manager deluded imbeciles who run the board and view Stamford Bridge as an ego stroking confidence boost, PR stunt and require affirmation that they are clever because they have more money than both sense, and know what to do with it. There are already plenty of fans who wished they had looked at Spin Casino games to occupy them and not glanced in our direction.
Football has never been a ‘throw billions’ at it without a plan game, and all our power brokers have achieved is in proving that to be the case. Presumably their plan does not involve Stamford Bridge outside of boosting the balance sheet and asset values, selling players at inflated fees and then passing us on in a few years to the next incumbents happy with their financial return, whilst fans are left wondering when we will recover from the laughing stock we have become.
It might be safe to say that Enzo Maresca’s accusations were correct and on the money, as we are obviously now on yet another hunt for a new ‘manager – head coach – server of coffee – next bet on outlasting a lettuce’ following the departure of not everyone’s cup of tea, Liam Rosenior.
Our next victims become obvious and we are already being linked with soon to be former Bournemouth gaffer Andoni Iraola, Fulham’s Marco Silva and former gaffer of Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid. The question right now is, short of the benefit of six weeks of work and a couple of million when they get their pay out, why would they be interested?
That is the self made problem we have right now, we need someone to build a proper philosophy around the real and undeniable playing talents that we have, and someone who is strong enough to do that despite the distractions and pressures that will be placed on them. Namely creating a workable first team squad that have a bond, a real plan and real tactics, and a group that prioritise the group and hold each other to account rather than looking for scapegoats to disguise their underperformance and lack of commitment.
The FA Cup Final appearance will be a welcomed distraction for many right now, particularly as our domestic league campaign has largely pathetically petered out with five straight and laughable defeats in a row. But we will learn a hell of a lot about our kid in a sweetshop owners and what they have learned (if anything) from their next appointment.
It is probably pretty safe to say that fans are not going to be content with billions being spent, tools being downed, and a regular managerial merry-go-round where players rule the roost until they decide to move on for real success.
