Chelsea take on Nottingham Forrest in the Premier League today. This is being seen as interim manager Calum McFarlane’s first big test in his second stint in the span of only three months.
The Blues’ record in the league has been far from satisfactory since Liam Rosenior took over back in January. The Blues reached new lows after they lost 3-0 against Brighton, which was also their fifth straight defeat without scoring a single goal.
But following the exit of Rosenior from the club, the Blues showed glimpses of the quality which their players possess under McFarlane during last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final win against a high-flying Leeds United side. The Blues picked up a morale-boosting victory while keeping a clean sheet, something they had rarely done under the previous manager.
With a victory tonight against a 16th-placed Nottingham Forest side, the Blues can move up to seventh in the Premier League table. Unfortunately, that might not turn out to be enough for the West London side as they would still be seven points adrift of fifth-placed Aston Villa with only three games left to play.
When does Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest start?
Chelsea’s crucial game against Nottingham Forest is scheduled to start at 15:00 BST, 10 am EDT, 7:30 pm IST on the 4th of May 2026 at Stamford Bridge.
How to watch the game
TV channels: Sky Sports Main Event (UK), USA, Universo (USA), Star Sports Select HD1 (India), SuperSport Premier League, Canal+ Sport 3 (NGA)
Live streaming: Sky Go (UK), NBC Sports Live, Telemundo Deportes En Vivo (USA), JioHotstar (India), DStv Now (NGA)
Chelsea will head into the game expecting to pick up all three points but Nottingham Forest’s record in their last five fixtures might be an indication of a pretty close contest.
The away side is now unbeaten in their last five games in the Premier League. On the othr hand, the picture is quite the opposite for Chelsea. The Blues go into the game with a completely contrasting record in the league, on a five-game losing streak without even a goal to show for it.
A victory today could give the Blues a much-needed morale boost ahead of two crucial fixtures against Liverpool in the league and the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley, which can make or break the Blues’ season. It remains to be seen if McFarlane’s team can deliver or not.
