Chelsea seem to be trailing far behind in the race to sign Van Hecke at the moment. Liverpool have the upper hand, having already taken the first step. Additionally, Tottenham may also hold a slight edge over the Blues.
This is due to the fact that De Zerbi already managed the 25-year-old centre-back during his time at Brighton. However, that factor will only come into play if Spurs remain out of the relegation zone by the end of the season. Jan Paul van Hecke would be a great option alongside Levi Colwill at Chelsea
