After the season that Chelsea have endured, expect the squad to look quite different by the time the 26/27 campaign starts. BlueCo must realise by now that they have gotten things completely wrong and need to hit the reset button, whether that is in terms of selecting their manager or players in the future.
That means that Chelsea are expected to add fresh faces to their squad in the summer. But at the same time, some familiar ones could be headed for the exit door as well.
Considering Chelsea’s financial situation, it is necessary for the club to part ways with current players in order to finance the arrival of new ones. And one who is almost certain to leave is Axel Disasi.
The French international is already out on loan at West Ham United and has been one of their best players in recent times. But that might not be enough to prevent them from going down. That would open up a window of opportunity for Leeds United to swoop in and sign the centre-back from Chelsea.
Leeds United eyeing move for Axel Disasi this summer
According to Football Insider, Leeds United are confident of agreeing a deal to sign Disasi if West Ham United are relegated. Pete O’Rourke said while talking about the situation:
“If West Ham go down, there will probably be no chance of signing him on a permanent basis. Leeds did look at Disasi before he moved to West Ham, they were one of the clubs that were interested in the French defender.
“It’s a situation that they will be keeping tabs on. We fully expect Daniel Farke’s side to strengthen their centre-back options in the summer transfer window after the move to a three-man defensive formation.
“Disasi is really impressing at West Ham I’m sure Leeds will be sitting up and taking notice of that.”
For Chelsea, it will be important to find Disasi a new permanent home, whether that turns out to be West Ham United or Leeds United.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Frenchman. But one would imagine that he has done well enough to secure his place at a Premier League club, whether the Hammers end up staying up or not.
Disasi has had a poor spell at Chelsea and needs permanent exit
Disasi’s time at Chelsea has not been great to be honest. He came in during the Mauricio Pochettino era and was one of the two players that the manager had a say in signing that summer.
Disasi would have a role in Pochettino’s team as well, as he played consistent football for Chelsea under the Argentine. But once he ended up leaving, things went south for him.
Disasi was not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans and has not regained his place in Chelsea’s plans, even after the Italian’s exit. He was frozen out of the squad for the first half of this season before leaving on loan.
